ASM launches new archiving app to help forwarders manage critical customs data

Agency Sector Management’s new web-based app helps forwarders retrieve critical data from any location and saves on time and costs

London, UK, Monday, 10th September 2018 – A new data archiving app will help forwarders stay compliant with the Customs declaration process, as well as saving them on time and costs, after being launched by Agency Sector Management (ASM) UK Ltd.

The new, web-based app is part of ASM’s freight management software Sequoia, and can be accessed remotely, making it easier for forwarders to store as well as to retrieve critical documentation.

Users do not need access to the Sequoia application in order to retrieve archived data, meaning they can find information simply by using a web browser, from any location.

“Crucially, this app automatically filters out non-critical data, which is important for e-commerce businesses that might be clearing thousands of line items a day,” said Peter MacSwiney, Chairman, Agency Sector Management.

“By keeping only critical data live, the tool reduces the database size and frees up expensive server space, which in turn enhances system performance and speeds up overall searches and processes, saving on valuable time and costs.

“If you can remotely search, filter, and access those records, as well as print or email documentation directly from that location, it’s also a huge advantage for forwarders.”

The archive stores details of jobs, declarations, shipments, agent inventory records, consolidations, transit movements, sales invoices, collection and delivery notes, air waybills/bills of lading, manifests, and user added documents.

Users can search the archive easily using any of the key references, such as a job reference, an Air Waybill number, or a Declaration Unique Consignment Reference.

The app is a bolt-on feature of the Sequoia Customs clearance software, which provides users a one-stop-shop freight management system.

The software is available 24/7 and forwarders are able to manage complete end-to-end supply chain activities, from job and shipment management to documentation and Customs declarations, job costings, and invoicing.

“With so many legislative changes on the horizon, it is crucial that forwarders stay compliant and without interruption to their business activities, which is guaranteed through our Sequoia software solution,” added MacSwiney.

Sequoia is the evolution of over 20 years of software development from ASM which began with the introduction of CHIEF (Customs Handling of Import and Export Freight).

Our Mission

To provide a one-stop software and representative solution across the international freight supply chain.

“We will develop and support cost-effective, business critical software to match your complex requirements, providing communication and integration between freight forwarders, business partners, community and government systems.

We will protect and promote your interests by actively representing you on key industry and government committees and institutions, influencing strategy to minimise the impact of legislative changes.”

Our Vision

The objective of SESAR is to modernise European ATM by defining, developing and delivering new or improved technologies and procedures (SESAR Solutions).

SESAR’s vision builds on the notion of trajectory-based operations’ and relies on the provision of air navigation services (ANS) in support of the execution of the business or mission trajectory — meaning that aircraft can fly their preferred trajectories without being constrained by airspace configurations.

SESAR Deployment Manager

The SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) function is defined by the Article 9 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) N°409/2013. Under the oversight of the European Commission, the SDM function consists of the synchronisation and the coordination of the deployment of the Common Projects. A Common Project is a Commission Implementing Regulation which mandates the implementation of the most essential operational changes in the European ATM Master Plan by the Member States of the European Union and their operational stakeholders. The first Common Project is known as the Pilot Common Project (PCP) and is defined by the Regulation (EU) N°716/2014. The SDM synchronises and coordinates implementation against the SESAR Deployment Programme which is a project view of the Common Projects organizing their implementation into optimum sequences of activities by all the stakeholders required to implement. To develop and maintain the SESAR Deployment Programme in close consultation with all the stakeholders is another important task under the SDM function.
