GEFCO Forwarding appoints Ben Cunnington as UK Development Manager and relocates humanitarian relief logistics service to Glasgow’s EuroCentral

London, UK, Wednesday 7th December 2016: GEFCO Forwarding UK Ltd has consolidated its Humanitarian Relief Logistics (HRL) service that provides critical logistics and transport services through dedicated resource within its new branch at Glasgow’s EuroCentral.

Ben Cunnington has been appointed UK Development Manager – Humanitarian Relief Logistics at GEFCO Forwarding UK, and will work from the new branch at EuroCentral, the designated Logsitics campus for Central Scotland.

“We are delighted to be able to use our expertise to support the global humanitarian relief sector, helping the most vulnerable people in our communities,” said Cunnington.

“Logistics plays a crucial role in this sector as it determines the speed and effectiveness of deliveries that can save lives and alleviate suffering.”

As part of his new role, Cunnington will manage the transportation of humanitarian goods via ocean, rail, and air – including chartered flights –  primarily to destinations in Africa and the Mid-East.

Cunnington previously worked as Business Development Manager – Scotland for GEFCO Forwarding UK, where he was focused on the oil and gas, energy, and fast moving consumer goods (FMCG) sectors.

He has over six years’ experience in the transport and logistics sector, having also held a range of senior roles at TNT Express, Energy Armor Racing, Tesco PLC, and PDC Diving.

Cunnington will work with Derek Scott, Branch Manager, at the Glasgow office.

Scott brings over 20 years of experience from the logistics and transport industry, having previously worked at DSV, Schlumberger, and Air and Cargo Services Ltd.

“Our new Glasgow office will be supporting our customers from a variety of industries but in particular HRL and the oil and gas sector, and will spearhead the development of our operations in Scotland,” said Derek Scott, Branch Manager, GEFCO Forwarding UK.

GEFCO Forwarding UK Ltd provides integrated logistics solutions for life sciences and healthcare, high tech, consumer goods, aerospace, automotive, humanitarian relief, energy/oil and gas, and offshore & spares industries.
