KALE LOGISTICS’ CODEX PORT COMMUNITY SYSTEM GOES LIVE AT PORT OF REMBANG TO STREAMLINE STAKEHOLDER OPERATIONS
The implementation of Indonesia’s first Port Community System has simplified stakeholder collaboration at the port and reduced wait time at the gate by 80%
Mumbai, India, Wednesday 2nd February 2022: Kale Logistics Solutions (Kale), trusted IT solutions provider for the global logistics industry, has implemented its CODEX Port Community System (PCS) with new customer Port of Rembang, located in the Central Java province of Indonesia, to fast track, streamline, and automate stakeholder interactions at the port.
Port of Rembang is a strategic port in Indonesia, which plays a key role in multimodal transportation in the region.
The port is also a member of Indonesia Port Business Association (ABUPI), a forum that supports the development of the maritime sector in Indonesia.
Digitising stakeholder engagement at the port has had a significant impact on its efficiency, making it open to new opportunities and creating the potential for expansion.
Kale’s CODEX PCS offers users several features, including shipment bookings, delivery orders, manifests, vessel registration, pilotage and berth allocation, and truck appointment, amongst others.
The online appointment of slot booking for transporters through the CODEX portal and its associated mobile application enables the truckers and port authorities to synchronise cargo movement in and out of the port, thereby reducing dwell time and congestion at the port gates.
“Kale is pleased to cater to Port of Rembang and oversee technology adoption in one of the most forward-looking maritime ecosystems in the world,” said Vineet Malhotra, Co-Founder and Director, Kale Logistics Solutions.
“Kale’s CODEX PCS already powers the digitisation of stakeholder engagement at 15 ports and terminals across countries in Asia Pacific, Africa, and the Middle East. With this implementation at Rembang Port, we look forward to having a long-lasting relationship with ABUPI and the maritime ecosystem in Indonesia.”
In the short time since going live, Kale’s PCS has already enabled the reduction of average truck dwell time by nearly 70% and waiting time at the gate has been reduced by approximately 80%.
A reduction in physical copies of documents from 12 to two has also been observed, bringing maritime stakeholders significant advantages associated with paperless transactions, including transparent operations and complete visibility of trucks and shipments.
“We chose Kale after a thorough evaluation of several providers. We feel Kale is at the forefront of innovation in the maritime sector and their experience in this field is very strong,” said Mindo Sitorus, Chairman of PT Pelabuhan Rembang Kencana, the management company for the Rembang Port.
“We are now embarking on a journey of rapid growth, and we strongly believe that to achieve this target, a partner like Kale will be an asset for us.
“The successful implementation of the CODEX PCS will facilitate the promotion of this platform by other ABUPI (Indonesia Port Business Association) network ports in Indonesia.”

Our Vision
The objective of SESAR is to modernise European ATM by defining, developing and delivering new or improved technologies and procedures (SESAR Solutions).
SESAR’s vision builds on the notion of trajectory-based operations’ and relies on the provision of air navigation services (ANS) in support of the execution of the business or mission trajectory — meaning that aircraft can fly their preferred trajectories without being constrained by airspace configurations.
SESAR Deployment Manager
The SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) function is defined by the Article 9 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) N°409/2013. Under the oversight of the European Commission, the SDM function consists of the synchronisation and the coordination of the deployment of the Common Projects. A Common Project is a Commission Implementing Regulation which mandates the implementation of the most essential operational changes in the European ATM Master Plan by the Member States of the European Union and their operational stakeholders. The first Common Project is known as the Pilot Common Project (PCP) and is defined by the Regulation (EU) N°716/2014. The SDM synchronises and coordinates implementation against the SESAR Deployment Programme which is a project view of the Common Projects organizing their implementation into optimum sequences of activities by all the stakeholders required to implement. To develop and maintain the SESAR Deployment Programme in close consultation with all the stakeholders is another important task under the SDM function.
