MEANTIME COMMUNICATIONS APPOINTS NEW ACCOUNT MANAGER ALEX ROBERTS

Journalist and editor joins the transport and logistics PR consultancy as AAL Shipping appoints the B2B specialist

London, UK, Friday 3rd April 2020 – Global PR and communications consultancy Meantime Communications has appointed Alex Roberts as Account Manager, bringing additional B2B experience and maritime insight to the team.

Alex has worked as a journalist and editor in the pharmaceutical and hazardous goods verticals, most recently serving as Deputy Editor at Hazardous Cargo Bulletin magazine.

He joins as global multipurpose and project heavy lift shipping operator AAL Shipping, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary, appoints Meantime as its PR consultancy.

“There was an immediate connection when I met the Meantime team and it is exciting to now be a part of the action,” said Alex.

“We work with a wide range of leading companies from across the globe and it is always inspiring to connect with them and work together to find new ways of communicating their story.

“Being part of a company such as Meantime that is also focused on sustainability and the environment, even going so far as to plant trees in Madagascar, is important to me.”

Meantime, a Living Wage Employer, which has been supporting clients from across the supply chain for over 11 years, has invested in a Climate Positive Workforce scheme with Offset Earth, meaning that trees are planted every month on behalf of employees to offset CO2.

“We have always been focused on building a sustainable business, as well as delivering consistently excellent support to our customers,” said Meantime Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Founder Emma Murray.

“There is no doubt that we are living in extraordinary times, and it has never been clearer that we must work together and support each other to build a genuinely sustainable future.

“Alex brings experience, enthusiasm, and a shared vision for that better future.”

Alex will be working with Meantime customers including AAL Shipping, Flow Water Technologies, developer of ballast water management systems, and global logistics and transportation company TIGERS.

He has harboured an interest in transport for some time, focusing his university studies on maritime trade and empires.

“There is just something about how merchants used to make their way across the globe for months on end on a wooden ship with little more than a compass or sextant; and now we have 300m-long satellite-controlled steel vessels with industrial cranes attached that are erecting wind farms in the ocean – it is hard not to be captivated by it all,” he said.

To date 1,043 trees have been planted in Meantime’s “Forest” in Madagascar, as part of its Climate Positive Workforce scheme, equating to a saving of close to 59 tonnes of CO2.

The scheme supports a wide variety of projects, from investing in Bio-Digesters in rural Vietnam, to buying improved stoves for families in Eritrea.

Royal Greenwich-based Meantime works with clients in the logistics, transport, and tech industries across the globe, including Schiphol Airport, Kerry Logistics, and DAMCO.

The Meantime Academy, backed by the Public Relations and Communications Association (PRCA) is now in its third year, giving staff training in PR, healthy working, and the logistics industry.
