About Pengellys and International Trade Management

In the early 1970s Pengellys offered Customs Brokerage and Freight Forwarding as new services, followed by Travel in 1981. In 1984 the company expanded into Wellington and Christchurch, enabling the Group to offer “all port services” to major trading companies throughout New Zealand.

Recognising the importance of the Australian market, Pengellys purchased International Trade Management (ITM) in 1992. Established in 1896 ITM offered Customs Broker / Freight Forwarder services in Sydney and Melbourne. Under the new ownership ITM has branched out into new territories with the opening of an office in Brisbane in 1996, in Adelaide in 2003, and most recently in Perth in 2010. Today a team of 200 experienced professionals compliment the full spectrum of Pengellys’ services.

Exclusive Network

WACO is an exclusive network consisting of a number of independent freight management companies. The company is an Association, which means that we are owned by, and run for the benefit of our members. Our Corporate Head Office is in Zurich and Operations Management in London.

Founded 1973

We were founded in 1973 with the idea of connecting the best freight forwarding organisations across the world. WACO soon became the pioneers and innovators of an independent worldwide network of companies working towards common goals and objectives.

A community of members

We have 111 members in 108 countries providing a network of more than 400 locations, employing over 21,000 freight professionals, handling over 1.85 million shipments each year with over one million tonnes of airfreighted cargo. Our network has a combined annual turnover of $4 billion, making The WACO System a major player in the global market.

Our Vision

The objective of SESAR is to modernise European ATM by defining, developing and delivering new or improved technologies and procedures (SESAR Solutions).

SESAR’s vision builds on the notion of trajectory-based operations’ and relies on the provision of air navigation services (ANS) in support of the execution of the business or mission trajectory — meaning that aircraft can fly their preferred trajectories without being constrained by airspace configurations.

SESAR Deployment Manager

The SESAR Deployment Manager (SDM) function is defined by the Article 9 of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) N°409/2013. Under the oversight of the European Commission, the SDM function consists of the synchronisation and the coordination of the deployment of the Common Projects. A Common Project is a Commission Implementing Regulation which mandates the implementation of the most essential operational changes in the European ATM Master Plan by the Member States of the European Union and their operational stakeholders. The first Common Project is known as the Pilot Common Project (PCP) and is defined by the Regulation (EU) N°716/2014. The SDM synchronises and coordinates implementation against the SESAR Deployment Programme which is a project view of the Common Projects organizing their implementation into optimum sequences of activities by all the stakeholders required to implement. To develop and maintain the SESAR Deployment Programme in close consultation with all the stakeholders is another important task under the SDM function.
